THE STYLE GUIDE
The first design meeting we set with new clients (after the onboarding process) is always a favorite: The Style Guide + Initial Space Planning Presentation.
During this meeting, we present a customized Style Guide that allows us to better understand what your eye gravitates towards, what you like/dislike, and your niche preferences about things like materials/furniture shape/patterns, etc. Along with this, we share our proposed “Space Plans” with furniture layouts for each room. The purpose of the Style Guide is to help you refine and define your personal aesthetic. The space plans ensure that every item in your first Design Presentation will work within with the agreed upon layout.
What is the Style Guide?
A completely customized presentation of Design Styles and inspiration photos based on your project inspiration and Design Questionnaire.
We will never ask you to check a box telling us whether you are “Modern” or “Beachy” - these style categories have completely different meanings to everyone and we want to understand your style WAY more effectively than that!
Our Style Guide allows us to discover not just what you like or dislike but why.
By focusing on design elements, visual prompts and guided conversation, we are able to gain a really complete understanding of your personal aesthetic.
Instead of just getting your response on an inspiration photo as a whole, we will discover what it is you really like about the design - is it soft furniture shapes, high contrast design elements, a rhythm to the materials used? Or is it casual vs tailored textiles, a particular metal finish, or the feeling that the furniture layout evokes?
Helping you refine and define your preferences upfront cuts down on revisions throughout the design process and leads to customized spaces that feel like a true reflection of YOUR unique style.
There are approx. 1 mil considerations that go into every single design decision we make (will this sofa fit through the front door? Lead time? Budget? Scale of pattern in context? Durability?)… but “guessing” how you’ll respond to an item isn’t one of them! I can’t tell you how many times Tanner and I have been on a sourcing trip where we say “OMG [Client from 5 years ago] would LOVE this!”.
The bottom line is that your personal aesthetic is as unique as your thumbprint. As your Interior Designer, it is most certainly my job to present creative options and bring my industry knowledge and experience to every design concept we present, but you will never feel like you are getting a design that only reflects my personal taste. We want your home to feel like a natural extension of YOU!
