I can't help but notice that all of my favorite kitchen designs lately feature Kilim rugs (the more vintage, the better). Images like the ones below are popping up all over my Instagram and Pinterest feeds, and I'm definitely not mad about it. Why does this combo work so perfectly, EVERY time?
Most kitchens need a pop of color. I love a slate blue or an emerald green cabinet, but a lot of kitchen designs are pretty neutral. This makes sense, because kitchen renovations are massively expensive and a total pain in the rear, to be quite honest. Most people want finishes that can stand the test of time. An easy way to add a bit of personality to a neutral kitchen is to include a colorful, patterned runner - you can simply swap it out when you are ready for a new vibe. Much easier than replacing light fixtures or installing a new countertop... Seems like a total no-brainer to me!
Feeling inspired?? Me too! Any of these rugs would look great as part of a kitchen design. The bolder colors would be perfect in a crisp, white kitchen like #2 above, and the more vintage-y, muted ones would pair well with a colored cabinet (as seen in the first image). Shop away!
Peace, love & Kilim rugs,
